Does your keyboard require user training?
Anyone who can use a mobile phone to text can use The cre8txt Keyboard. No additional training is required. The SMS Text Translation Tool can be configured by the user in a number of ways to suit their style and typing speed.

What's new about SMS?
Mobile phone communication platforms have been using SMS text for a considerable time, and that has caused the development of a whole new language "SMS Text Slang". Originally developed to save space on the then restricted 160 character text messages, it substitutes shorter character combinations in place of longer words. Young people have developed this language for both mobile phone use and PC messaging platforms. This audience is both competent and efficient users of this technology. Combining this layout in a USB keyboard that connects to a computer with software that can also translate from SMS Slang into full English and at the same time offer a selection of predictive words to complete the sentence will improve language development and literacy skills.

What software do I need to use it?
The keyboard has the SMS translation tool included with it. The SMS dictionary that is included can be turned off at anytime. The cre8txt Keyboard can be used on any PC or Apple Computer with a USB port, but the software is only currently available for Microsoft WindowsTM operating systems. The cre8txt Keyboard is also compatible with the MS Xbox gaming platform as a standard text entry keyboard.

How does the user enter text?
When the cre8txt Keyboard is plugged into your computer it is recognised immediately, no operating system drivers are required as long as there is a working USB port on the computer. The Predictive Text Tool and SMS Translation tool will require to be installed before these can be used.

How does this keyboard differ from a computer keyboard?
The cre8txt Keyboard uses the numerical telephone keyboard layout as used in mobile phone devices and not the standard QWERTY keyboard layout used on computer keyboards.

How is the keyboard powered?
The cre8txt Keyboard connects to the computer using the USB port and does not require separate power.

Can I use the keyboard on more than one computer?
The cre8txt Keyboard can be used on any number of computers, however the license to use the SMS Translation and Predictive Text Tool is granted for one computer's use. It is however possible at time of installation to choose to install the software on a USB Memory Stick and providing each computer that you want to use the Keyboard on has 2 available USB ports the Keyboard and Software can be taken from computer to computer. The user's SMS personal dictionary is also stored on the USB Memory Stick. This portable solution is only currently available for the PC WindowsTM operating systems.
